Bright and Delicate

Absences are a good influence in love and keep it bright and delicate. ~ Robert Louis Stevenson
When I wander in the woods on sunny days I’m often entranced by the dappled sunlight that dances around. It lures me over to a tiny twig, feathery grasses or miniature flowers that are catching just the right light. Each delicate strand shines bright like string of christmas tree lights calling me over…
I would love to find this while wandering in the woods ♥
Two Good

If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track, which has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. ~ Joseph Campbell
I think it’s so interesting that when things are too good it’s hard for me to accept and enjoy. Some part of my nervous system seems to get all anxious and hyped up, I worry it won’t last, I wonder if I deserve it, I want someone else to have what I have rather than being okay with the blessings that are offered. I’m determined to change this strange reaction and fully receive and drink in all the beauty the world has to offer.
This week I had a taste of this bliss. I captured beautiful butterflies on beautiful flowers. I could not believe that this happened two days in a row! For me it’s been rare to capture a butterfly, then to capture them on beautiful flowers TWO GOOD!
Then a giant bee flew into my frame ~ life is too good, and I’ll take it!
If you have an extra minute, really it will only take a minute, check out not one but TWO GOOD links –

Skywatching

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. ~ e.e. cummings
The weather has been great the past couple of weeks. A perfect combination of sunshine and storms creating beautiful clouds and lovely temperatures. When I’m not looking on the ground for more mushrooms, I’ve been skywatching…
All of the shots are from the past couple of weeks, except for the last two. I’ve been on this organizing mission and it feels so good to get my photos sorted. I keep finding ones that I forgot to share.
I just love this time of year. I have so much energy to get things done! It’s so great to finish my day of doing a hundred different things and still have enough stamina and daylight to go for an evening hike . Or, if I’m tired, it’s so nice to enjoy relaxing on the deck watching the golden light cascade on the trees. I wish the summer would last so much longer!
How is your summer going?
Fairyland (part 2)
Posted by Christine M Young in magical macros, walk with me... on August 14, 2011
A lady, with whom I was riding in the forest, said to me, that the woods always seemed to her to wait, as if the genii who inhabit them suspended their deeds until the wayfarer has passed onward: a thought which poetry has celebrated in the dance of the fairies, which breaks off on the approach of human feet. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
When the mushrooms emerge, the forest turns into a fairyland, I love it when a new colony seems to just appear overnight. I get lost in the otherworldly atmospheres. Sometimes I’m convinced there just must be fairies, wood sprites, or pixie like creatures lurking about.

They’re Back! (part 1)

Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people in the whole world—I mean everybody—No matter how boring they are on the outside, inside them they’ve got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands, maybe. ~ Neil Gaiman
My obsession with mushrooms began last summer and it continues! We seem to be in high season, for the past week I’ve been going on longer hikes than usual ~ I just can’t get enough of them. Each day I wonder if I’ll find a new kind or color. It just amazes me how many shapes and sizes they come in.
Even finding an average joe excites me. When I search for mushrooms I feel like I’m stumbling into secret worlds. There are too many to capture all by myself. I invite you all to come visit to go treasure hunting with me. Michigan is filled with magical mushrooms!
~ christine
P.S. I linked my old blog post about my obession with mushrooms as a pdf. My old blog crashed and burned but I was able to recover posts as pdf’s. The format is a bit sloppy, but I’m happy to have a record.

Wandering in the Weeds
Posted by Christine M Young in life lessons, magical macros, walk with me... on August 3, 2011
Gratitude is an art of painting an adversity into a lovely picture. ~Kak Sri
Most mornings I take my dog for a walk in the backyard. This time of year it’s a bit of a wasteland… the trail to the little pond is too buggy and overgrown to tempt me past a certain point. But that’s okay… there is beauty lurking amongst the weeds.
Sunrise is so willing to wait for me as the sun peeks thru and draws me towards something I just have to take a closer look at. A 10 minute stroll can turn into a half an hour of crouching and leaning and circling around to get just the right angle…
Sometimes I wish my yard was filled with lush gardens, fancy fruits, and perfect pathways… other times I realize how exciting it is to find beauty in my backyard just as it is.
